Personal Tax – Year End Tax Planning 2021/22

With the end of the 2021/22 tax year fast approaching, it is now the time to consider some opportunities for saving tax with some careful end of year tax planning.  This guide will provide you with tax saving tips, but not all of these will be relevant to your particular circumstances.  As always we are here to discuss anything that may be of interest to you.

Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings (ATED)

Do you have an Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings (ATED) return to submit by 30 April 2022 for the period 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023? Unlike most taxes, ATED returns are submitted at the start of the year and are required even where there is no tax to pay.

Personal pension contributions and the Annual Allowance Excess Charge

As we approach the end of the 2021/22 tax year, you should review your pension contributions made since 6 April 2021 and consider whether or not you should make a further one-off personal pension contribution before 5 April 2022 to save tax and to utilise any carried-forward relief from 2018/19 which will be lost if not used by then.
